Sewing.
I have bought this pattern.

It arrived today.

It's hideously complicated. Given how simple the dress looks, it's ridiculous. I'm certain there must be a simpler way to make it.

But I also just dumped £50 on fabric, so I'll follow the instructions first time around.

Black/silver, in case you couldn't guess. Someone needs to have a chat with Rega about colour schemes :P

Hehe being the bad girl I am, I'd be so tempted to bodge it, utterly fuck up and swear.... loudly.

You're going to look awesomesauce though.

I really wanted to get a blakc/purple waspie for Elsie, but £43 is just too steep... looks like I'm staying black too

Depending when you want it, I might be able to add you to the sewing list - Leek is definitely out, but I have a waist cincher pattern I might be able to master by banquet season at the worst.

Oooh! Pretty!

And now I'm half tempted to have Mizzyrix offer Rega advice in terms of colour schemes...something tells me Rega would either squash her like a bug or just peer down her nose at her and wait for her to finish...then squash her like a bug.

I hate patternsm I swear. Not having too much of a problem with my current one, but there was no way to make the neck work the way it claimed.

If it's any consolation most of us who sew regularly *hate* patterns. I have never yet bought one that didn't need extensive redrafting and much prefer starting from scratch or using patterns taken from actual historic examples. My personal opinion is the people who draft a lot of the paterns sold don't understand historic clothing and therfore miss the obvious on how they were made.

(Gets down off soap box - Have seen too many people learn to hate sewing because of poorly drafted patterns and incomprehensible instructions)
