The weekend will continue in the same vein as the week...
...apparently.

So, I've just spent the last half an hour trapped in the bathroom. Doug, Elizabeth and David are all out - and the key jams. It's done this before, but after 10 mins of jiggling or so, it unjams.

Not this time.

I jiggle harder.

Nothing but sore fingers to show for my efforts - although any children passing under the window may have learnt some interesting new phrases. The key remains steadfastly jammed.

So, I fashion an impromtu screwdriver out of my tweasers (may they rest in pieces) and stubbornly use it to pry the screws from the door until I can swivel the locking section enough to let myself out. After 20 minutes, 2 broken nails, a split lip from chewing on it in frustration and more cursing than I care to account for, I succeed. And joyously reach the bedroom and grab my phone to call the boyfriend to say 1) I'ma be late. 2) I need a new set of tweasers, and 3) He needs a new bathroom lock.

His reply? "Oh, no, all it is, is that you have to angle the key right..."

Goddamnit. So now we have to reconstruct said bathroom lock after our shopping trip. Very tempted to make him use the tweaser-screwdriver, after which he will give me a tutorial in how to operate our bathroom door.

I so lose at life sometimes.

Lose at life? No way - you did mccguyver your way out of a bathroom with a improvised screwdriver! It won't get much better than that... :P

I was gonna disagree and say it was more A-Team-esque, but then I realised that she hadn't made a tank out of toilet duck and a loofah, and didn't call anyone a 'fool'!

Congratulations and commiserations.

Though next time you put up such a post, please bear in mind my poor sensibilities and avoid such phrases as:

"I jiggle harder."
and
"Nothing but sore fingers to show for my efforts..."

I'm only human...

You have this amazing talent. This is why I seek proximity - where else can you get such good stand up comedy without paying? ;)

Commiserations on broken nails - everything else can be fixed...

Congratulations on your amazing escape, and thanks for the amusement too.

Two suggestions that might help for future situations, 1)If you think the door can jam and leave you stuck take your phone with you, 2)When you get the replacement tweezers see if you can't find a swiss army knife with a decent pair of tweezers in, so you have a few more options for future situations.

Don't bother locking door in future - just stick a sign on it telling people you're in there.

OK OK I relent!! I'll find a new lock, like I promised to do last time someone got stuck in there... I only didn't coz we sussed out the trick and I've never had a problem...

I'll see what I can find in town tomorrow.

If it makes you feel any better, I got stuck in there for a couple of minutes last night and had a moment of panic about whether I have the same Mcguyvering skills with tweezers. Thankfully it opened in the end and I was saved from having to be rescued.

*clears throat politely*

If you have to be locked into a room -- the bathroom's the best one to be locked into!
